DISCOVER SCUBA NIGHTS

Three introductory evenings are planned for those who are interested in scuba but don't really know what to expect. Potential members will receive an introductory theory session followed by a pool session where you will use actual scuba equipment. REFRESHER SCUBA NIGHTS Jan. 20 & 27

Three Refresher pool only evenings 8:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. are planned for those who have taken the Kelsey Scuba open water program in the past at cost of $10.00. Individuals who have attended other training agencies or clubs must provide documentation and the cost to attend is $20.00. Use of scuba equipment will be under the supervision of the program instructors. Participants must register in advance through the Sask Polytech Students’ Association Office (306) 659-4421. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space is limited.

OPEN WATER SCUBA CERTIFICATION COURSES

Two courses will be offered during the 2020-2021 term. The course will provide the novice with the minimum knowledge and skills to safely progress to Open Water Scuba Diver Certification. Both sessions will have only one classroom theory session and the remaining theory material and examinations will be delivered online. The remaining theory sessions can be completed based on the participant’s schedule but must be completed prior to the open water training session.

Upon successful completion of the required documentations, pool and theory material, the participant will be required to complete a separate open water examination to be granted A.C.U.C. International Certification. For more details, visit www.acuc.es. Once certified, a diver can participate in diving activities without the direct supervision of a diving instructor. Information on how to complete the open water training will be provided as several options are available through other training originations or warm water locations!

OPEN WATER TRAINING & CERTIFICATION COMPLETION

After completion of the theory and pool sessions, members will be provided with an open water diver referral document. To become certified divers, the participant must complete an open water examination within one year of completing the course. Open water examination can be conducted by any certified scuba instructor through many dive shops locally and internationally upon presentation of the referral letter.

The club usually offers open water examination once each spring. The participant must attend three open water training pool sessions. These sessions are required for anyone who wants to enroll in the open water examination. The open water examination is usually done on a weekend in late June and is $100.00 (gst included) plus equipment rental.

Diving is for everyone

Diving is an activity that can be enjoyed by almost everyone, including people with disabilities.

A short film "If I Can Drive, I Can Dive" directed by Slovenian. Author Peter Lombar is presenting a large group of SCI (Spinal Cord Injury) divers in a swimming pool during their practice. Divers are members of IAHD Adriatic (International Association for Handicapped Divers Adriatic) from Slovenia which is member of C.M.A.S.
